At Orchard House, we believe in nurturing the whole child, providing opportunities to explore, create, and grow in a joyful, supportive environment. We offer a range of extracurricular activities designed to enhance the EYFS curriculum and provide enriching, hands-on experiences for our children.
Cooking & Baking
Our owner, **Daniela—a mother of four—**combines her love of food and children by leading weekly cooking sessions with our preschoolers. Using simple, delicious recipes, our little chefs have made dishes like couscous salad, curry puffs, and fruit ice cream! Cooking not only encourages picky eaters to explore new flavors but also strengthens fine motor skills, sparks creativity, and provides a fun, sensory-rich experience.
Hocus & Lotus Language Classes
Through storytelling and playful characters, our children enjoy engaging French and Italian language classes. Early exposure to foreign languages boosts communication skills, strengthens memory, and builds cultural awareness. It also benefits our bilingual children by reinforcing the languages they hear at home.
Phonics with Robot Reg
Led by a qualified peripatetic teacher, this high-energy phonics program introduces children to early literacy skills in a fun, interactive way, helping lay the foundation for confident reading and writing.
Music Sessions
We collaborate with a professional musician experienced in early years education to offer engaging music sessions. Children explore instruments, enjoy live music, and participate in sensory-rich activities using soft props, movement, and songs.
Early Talk Boost at Orchard House
At Orchard House Nursery, we are committed to supporting every child’s speech and language development. Thanks to Greenwich Council, we are proud to offer Early Talk Boost, a targeted intervention designed to help children aged 3-4 who may be struggling with their communication skills.
What is Early Talk Boost?
Early Talk Boost is an evidence-based programme created by speech and language experts to support children with delayed language development. Through engaging activities, storytelling, and interactive games, the programme helps improve:
- Vocabulary – Expanding the words children understand and use.
- Sentence Structure – Encouraging longer and more complex sentences.
- Listening & Attention – Building concentration and social interaction skills.
